Our company’s Marula journey began when a group of anthropologists traveled to Africa to study human fossils. While on this African excavation site, they noticed the local women using oils from the indigenous Marula tree nut on their skin. This miracle oil kept their skin cleansed, hydrated, and protected from the harsh environment. It was also used to heal skin from minor cuts and abrasions. Fascinated by this local practice and discovery, the anthropologists brought the oil to the US and enlisted American plastic surgeon Dr. Ashton Kaidi to study the benefits of their find.
Dr. Kaidi’s research revealed the powerful and potent anti-oxidant benefits of this precious Marula oil. Dubbed the “elixir of youth,” our Marula oil combines modern technology with an ancient beauty secret that has been passed down through generations. Our oil is wild harvested (organic), hand selected, and cold pressed with no added chemicals. Every product in our line is based on this Marula oil.
Recognizing the importance of the Marula tree to the local communities, we are an active and longtime investor in a fair-trade partnership with local African governments. This partnership continues to enable the Marula brand to share the economic benefits of this ingredient with the local farming women and their families while bringing superior potent anti-oxidant Marula oil to women around the world.
